Keenen Ivory Wayans to be the Showrunner for Season 3 of The Last O.G.

For those unfamiliar with the term "showrunner", Wikipedia says, "A showrunner is the leading producer of a television series. In America, they are known as executive producers. A showrunner has creative and management responsibility of a television series production through combining the responsibilities of employer, and in comedy or dramas, typically also character creator, head writer, and script editor." A showrunner is similar to a director of a movie, but has authority over tv episode directors.

Tiffany Haddish and Tracy Morgan selected Wayans to serve in this capacity for season 3 and Tracy is excited to get to work with the creator again. Just as hyped as Morgan is Wayans, saying, "I’m thrilled and excited to be working with such a great cast, team of producers and reuniting with Tracy Morgan. Together we’re all going to take the show to the next level.”

Keenen Ivory Wayans is best known for creating the groundbreaking, amazing sketch comedy series, In Living Color.  The series is credited with beginning the acting careers of Jamie Foxx and Jim Carey to name a few. He has also directed White Chicks, Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2. He is credited with co-writing Hollywood Shuffle.

The Last O.G. which is aired on TBS can be streamed on Netflix as well for those who need to catch up. Britt Weitz, the general manager of TBS, TNT, and truTV said, “We can’t wait to see where Keenen takes this series next. It’s honestly a dream scenario to work with one of the true trailblazers of social humor; he’s the perfect fit for The Last O.G.”
