Netflix Lands Its First African Series

The media giant Netflix has started production on their first African original series, Queen Sono. This is the first African series they are seeing through from start to finish. They already have a South African series on the platform, but that series was acquired from Africa. Queen Sono will be a spy thriller featuring Pearl Thusi, who we got to know as a regular in ABC's Quantico as Dayana.

Thusi will be playing the role of a "a highly trained top spy in a South African agency whose who has a mission of bettering the lives of African people. She will also have to deal with personal relationship issues on top of making the world a better place. The rest of the cast are also home grown in Africa, featuring Vuyo Dabula, Kate Liquorish, Sechaba Morojele, Chi Mhende, Loyiso Madinga, and Rob Va Vuuren

Queen Sono is reportedly will launch in 2020 on Netflix. The series will launch in over 190 countries.
