September is 10 days from being over, however we are 100% sure Rihanna is the Power Person of the Month. September has belonged to her and we are ready to give her the crown for sure!
To start, Rihanna began the month by gracing the cover of Vogue Magazine: Hong Kong. This is Vogue's 26th edition of the magazine which was released in March 2019. In true Rihanna, groundbreaking fashion, she is the first Black woman to grace the cover. This cover announcement came one year after she became the first Black woman to be on the cover of British Vogue, something that took 102 years to accomplish. The cover was shot by Hanna Moon, who described RiRi as a "fashion force."
Also this month, Rihanna held her 5th annual Diamond Ball, a benefit gala for the Clara Lionel Foundation. The organization is named after her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite which she started in 2012. The foundation supports and funds global education, health and emergency response programs. It also engages in advocacy to improve the quality of life for children around the world. Pharrell and DJ Khaled performed at the event that was hosted by Seth Myers. Over the night, the singer was able to raise over $1 million which was matched up to $1 million by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
As we all have heard, Rihanna's lingerie fashion line Savage X Fenty took over New York Fashion Week (NYFW). On September 12th, the second annual collection was shown to closeout the week. She had models of all sizes and colors and even featured two pregnant models, something that is normally not seen on a runway. Rihanna said, "My mission is to just have women all over the world feel comfortable and sexy and have fun with lingerie. I think tonight was just one of those experiences that I wanted people to feel that energy. I wanted them to feel all the different body types, all the different women in different stages of their womanhood.” Savage X Fenty just recently received a $50 million investment from Jay-Z’s venture capital firm, Marcy Venture Partners LLC and Avenir Growth Capital. With a sizable investment plus the name recognition, it is easy to see why and how her brand was able to steal all of the attention from NYFW.
Savage x Fenty secured an exclusive deal with Amazon Prime Video giving subscribers access to stream the show beginning today, September 20th. Viewers will be able to see the entire show from NYFW including the runway sets and the musical performances by some famous guests.
As far as the music business goes, the reason we all fell in love with her, well we have to keep waiting. She announced at the Diamond Ball that she is working on an album and it is reported that it will be released in December. While participating in NYFW, she was asked if she had plans of performing in the Super Bowl. She responded, "I still got an album to finish. “You gonna ask me about Super Bowl? My fans about to have my neck.” This is good news for the navy and lovers of all things Rihanna. Another sign that she's about to release music is her signing this month with SonyATV Music Publishing, whose CEO she last released her album under.
It seems that whatever Rihanna does or touches turns gold. This all happened in one month, in a year where she was named the wealthiest woman in music. Keep up the great work, sis! We love you!!!
