Netflix is taking a Victory Lap after an extreme bidding war to land the Ava DuVernay directed and produced project based on the late, great Nipsey Hussle. Netflix was able to beat out the likes of Amazon, Apple, and others for the right to stream the project in an eight figure deal.
Ava will direct the film in conjunction with her film company ARRAY and Nipsey's Marathon Films. The late rapper's family reached out to DuVernay to direct the project due to her success in directing other Netflix hits such as 13th and When They See Us. The family loved her work on those projects and thought she would be perfect to tell the Nipsey story even in his death.
This is going to be phenomenal; with the type of person Nipsey was and the type of creator Ava is, this is bound to be one of the must watch documentaries on Netflix.
In the infamous words of Bart Scott, CAN'T WAIT!!!
